Chinese commercial space startup develops AI satellites

Having sent two satellites into space within 100 days after its establishment, a young Chinese commercial space firm is preparing for a new launch in December. Supported by the local government, the Chengdu GuoXing Aerospace Technology Co. Ltd. was set up in the capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province in May. It has developed two experimental satellites integrated with AI technology.
"The AI technology could give the satellite a stronger capability of automatic data analysis," said Zhao Hongjie, vice president of the startup firm.

China opens astronomical science popularising base in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

The plaque for astronomical science popularization base was unveiled at the Ngari Observatory in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region on 27 November. The base, which stands 5,100 meters above the sea level, is designed to be a unique center for astronomical science popularization and education by taking advantage of the Ngari Observatory's fine conditions for observation and its research and innovative capacity. It is the only plateau astronomical science popularizing base in the country.

CGWIC and China Siwei Signed the Contract of the Superview-1 Satellite Data Overseas Marketing

On 6 November 2018, China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC) and China Siwei Surveying and Mapping Technology Co.Ltd. (China Siwei) signed the Contract of Superview-1 Satellite Data Overseas Marketing. Since the launch of Superview-1 01&02 in December 2016, CGWIC and China Siwei have been jointly working on the international market development of the Superview-1 satellites.
