Science and technology cooperation with China the way forward for Pakistan

During Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent visit to China, 15 memoranda of understanding were signed to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, in particular in science and technology. Pakistan and China have been engaged in S&T cooperation since 1976, when the two nations signed an agreement on this sector. During Khan’s recent visit to China the two sides agreed to promote the 2012-2020 Space Cooperation Outline between the China National Space Administration and the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). Expressing satisfaction on the launch of the Pakistan Remote Sensing Satellite this year, the two sides agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation in space technology applications. They agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of manned space travel, and the China Manned Space Engineering Office and SUPARCO will sign a framework agreement on cooperation.

China to enhance space science, technology sharing in Asia-Pacific

China is planning to promote the sharing of satellite data with member states of the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) to help with urban planning, disaster monitoring and assessment, as well as agriculture and forest surveys. "We will construct the Data Sharing Service Cloud Platforms by using existing and potential co-developed satellites to serve these purposes," said Li Xinjun, Secretary General of APSCO, at a forum commemorating the 10th anniversary of the founding of the organization on 14 November.

Exhibition showcases sci-tech achievements in 40-year reform, opening-up

A grand exhibition being held in Beijing has offered visitors a great opportunity to review China's scientific and technological achievements in the 40 years of reform and opening-up. Sixty-three innovative achievements are showcased at the exhibition at the National Museum of China which opened on Tuesday morning, demonstrating the country's scientific and technological development over the past four decades. Historical materials including photos, texts, videos, miniature models and interactive activities epitomize the changes. Models of the Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) Satellite "Wukong", manned submersible Shenhai Yongshi, and Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST) are among the exhibits displayed at the exhibition.

First U.N. World Geospatial Information Congress kicks off in east China

The first United Nation World Geospatial Information Congress (UNWGIC) kicked off on Monday in Deqing of east China's Zhejiang Province.
Under the theme "The Geospatial Way to a Better World", about 1,000 representatives from the governments of the Member States of the United Nations, international organizations on geospatial information, academic circles and industrial circles gathered here to enhance communication, understanding, and application of geospatial information management, and pool talents to help address local, regional and global challenges.
