China launches space router for first time

China's first space router has been successfully launched together with the HY-2B marine satellite atop the Long March-4B carrier rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in northern Shanxi Province. The space router, designed and manufactured by the National University of Defense Technology, has already entered orbit. The router is one of the core requirements needed to build a "space-ground integrated information network," in a bid to provide Internet services for different users, as nearly half of people across the globe are yet to have Internet access, hindered by deserts, mountains, oceans or other natural environments.

Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor: Next angkasawan should go with China

Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, the first Malaysian astronaut, hopes the government can send out the next angkasawan to the final frontier by 2030 with the help of China. He added that it would be possible if Malaysia were to cooperate with China’s astronauts to develop a programme for that, Malay daily Sinar Harian reported on its website. Dr Sheikh Muszaphar also offered his help to facilitate a bilateral programme: “My relationship is good with the Chinese astronauts, especially its first astronaut. And I received many invitations from China as well.”

China successfully conducts carrier rocket's vertical landing flight test

01 November 2018
The Beijing Aerospace Institute of Automatic Control at the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation successfully carried out a flight verification test of a carrier rocket's vertical landing system with guidance and control technology on 29 November. The Space Intelligence Technology Innovation Center and a national key laboratory of aerospace intelligent control technology were responsible for the flight test and research.
