High-orbit BeiDou-3 satellite boosts China's global navigation system

China's home-grown global satellite navigation system came a step closer to completion on 1 November with the launch of another BeiDou-3 satellite at 11:57 p.m. from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center, in the southwestern Sichuan Province. Launched on a Long March-3B carrier rocket, it is the 41st of the BeiDou navigation system, and will work with 16 other Beidou-3 satellites already in orbit. It is also the first BeiDou-3 satellite in high orbit, about 36,000 km above the Earth. In a geostationary orbit, following the Earth's rotation, it will view the same point on Earth continuously.

New Long March rocket series on display at Airshow China

The 12th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China) opened on 06 November, with models of China's new-generation Changzheng, or Long March rocket series on display in Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province. Also on display is the model of micro rocket Smart Dragon No.1, also known as Lightning Dragon No.1, developed by Chinarocket under the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

China unveiled on 06 November a replica of its first permanently crewed space station, which would replace the international community's orbiting laboratory and symbolises the country's major ambitions beyond Earth. The 17-metre (55-foot) core module was a star attraction at the biennial Airshow China in the southern coastal city of Zhuhai, the country's main aerospace industry exhibition.
