China launched two satellites for Saudi Arabia

China launched two satellites for Saudi Arabia on a Long March-2D rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China on 07 December at 12:12 p.m. Each weighing 425 kg, the two low orbit remote sensing satellites developed by Saudi Arabia have a design life of five years. They are mainly used for achieving ground images. The rocket also carried 10 small satellites. The satellites have all entered the orbit.

Global satellite system to allow 'unparalleled' accuracy

The Kuilong system will link China's Beidou Navigation Satellite System with the Hongyan Satellite Constellation, on which construction will soon begin, said He Xing, Executive Vice-President of China Great Wall Industry Corp, which initiated the Kuilong programme. After the system is completed, Kuilong users will have access to their exact position accurate to about 10 centimeters in less than one minute, no matter where they are, He told China Daily on 6 December on the sidelines of the 6th China Space Forum in Beijing.
