Chinese satellites contribute to global disaster prevention and mitigation

Since the successful launch of its first Earth observation satellite, the Gaofen-1, in 2013, the country has almost completed the construction of its space-based Earth observation system with several high-definition satellites. By the end of 2019, China will launch another such satellite, indicating the complete construction of the system. The country shares system data with countries all over the world to help towards international disaster prevention and mitigation. Also, before 2025, the country will launch three high-orbit and six low-orbit Fengyun satellites.

China to conclude online applications for space experiments in late August

The ongoing online applications for national science and technology experiments to be conducted onboard the China Space Station will run until 31 August. Applications can be filed through the log-in webportal: http://39.97.240.213/login
Also, nearing the same deadline are applications for the international payloads on the China's Chang'e 6 mission and asteroid-comet mission.

China's private space sector eyes breakthrough with satellite launch by Jielong rocket

Satellite "Haichuang Qiansheng" built by Beijing Qiansheng Exploration Technology Co has completed all pre-flight tests and will be launched into a 540 km orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on board of a Jielong (Smart Dragon) rocket. According to Beijing Qiansheng, the satellite is by far the heaviest offering, weighs 65 kilograms, to be launched by any Chinese private satellite maker so far, and it's also the first dual-function satellite made by a start-up.

China set guidelines for sci-tech journals and allocated enormous funds for science projects

China to provide world's leading sci-tech journals

The China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education and the Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China have issued a guideline on promoting reform and development of the country's sci-tech journals. The guideline proposes approaches to achieve a goal of establishing world-leading sci-tech journals, stressing that sci-tech journals reflect a country's competitiveness and cultural soft power. It calls for efforts to enhance Chinese journals' management, market operation and international influence.

China to fund 41,752 science projects with more than 21 bln yuan

China will allocate 21.03 billion RMB (about 2.99 billion USD) to finance 41,752 science projects, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced on 16 August. The funds will go to 10 types of science projects including national key projects, key international cooperative research projects, projects conducted by distinguished young scholars, as well as major projects on scientific instruments and equipment.
