Aim of "Station Complete by 2022" reconfirmed

China plans to complete the construction of a space station and have it put into operation around 2022, said Zhou Jianping, the Chief Designer of China's manned space programme, at a forum held in south China's Guangdong Province. "The main goal of the construction of the space station is to enable China to become a country independently mastering the technology for long-term manned flight in near-Earth space, and having the capability to carry out long-term manned scientific experiments in near-Earth space and comprehensive development and utilization of space resources," said Zhou at the 4th China Summit Forum on Human Factors Engineering, which was held at Sun Yat-Sen University from 16 to 17 November.

China sends two global multimedia satellites into planned orbit

Two global multimedia satellites were launched by a Kuaizhou-1A (KZ-1A) rocket into planned orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the northwest of China on 17 November at 18:00 BJT.
The two satellites, KL-a-A and KL-a-B, are international cooperative commercial projects delivered by the Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. They are mainly used for the Ka-band communication technology test. The user is a German company.

China launches big Earth data system

A big Earth data system was launched at the 1st China Digital Earth Conference that opened on 18 November in Beijing. The system initiated by Chinese scientists can provide global users with uniquely identifiable and standardized big Earth data. As an advanced tool for quantitative research of the Earth, the project incorporates research fields involving space science, information technology and Earth science. The system has already been applied in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the digital Belt and Road Initiative.

Manufacturing complex for Kuaizhou carrier rockets nears completion in Wuhan

A new manufacturing complex for carrier rockets will soon be built and start operation, according to a project insider with China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp, the major investor in the base. Construction of the complex, part of the Wuhan National Space Industry Base, will be completed around the end of this year and the complex will have an initial production capacity of 20 Kuaizhou-series solid-propellant carrier rockets, Zhang Di, a senior rocket scientist and chairman of Expace Technology, a CASIC subsidiary in Hubei province's Wuhan Zhang told China Daily on the sidelines of the 5th China International Commercial Aerospace Forum.
