In the fourth week of October the team of the second Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau scientific expedition launched sounding balloons and drones for the integrated observation experiment of the Southeast Tibet alpine environment. The researchers acquired data lon the temperature profile, relative humidity distribution, air pressure, wind direction and wind speed as measured from the surface to 30 kilometers height in the atmosphere. The newly collected data will then be combined with Fengyun satellite data, numerical weather models, statistical analysis, and diagnosis analysis to obtains high temporal and high-resolution models and 3-dimensional profiles of the layers in the Earth's atmosphere.

On 3 November, the Earth observation satellite Gaofen 7 launched on a Long March-4B rocket at 11:22 h (Beijing Time) from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China's Shanxi Province. Gaofen is China's first civil-use optical transmission 3D surveying and mapping satellite that reaches the sub-meter level, CNSA said.

China's lunar rover Yutu-2 has driven 318.62 m on the far side of the Moon to conduct scientific exploration of the unchartered territory.
Both the lander and the rover of the Chang'e-4 probe have ended their work for the 11th lunar day, and switched to dormant mode for the lunar night on Monday (Beijing time), according to the Lunar Exploration and Space Programme Centre of the China National Space Administration. The rover is now located 218.11 m northwest of the lander.

China sent a new satellite of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in Sichuan Province at 1:43 h Beijing Time on 05 November. Launched on a Long March-3B carrier rocket, it is the 49th satellite of the BDS satellite family and the 24th satellite of the BDS-3 system. It also marked that a total of three BDS-3 satellites have been sent into the inclined geosynchronous Earth orbit.
