BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) has become the top guidance service provider for domestic Gaode Map, according to a statement released by the Beijing Institute of Space Science and Technology Information on 14 December. Based on the average number of satellites called by domestic navigation apps for each positioning, BeiDou satellites have been called the most, 30 percent more than the second-ranked GPS, the China Media Group (CMG) reported.

On 15 December at 02:25 BJT, Yaogan 36 remote sensing satellite was launched by a CZ-2D from Xichang Satellite Launch Centre. The satellite entered its planned orbit successfully.

On 16 December, at 14:17 BJT, the Shiyan 21 satellite was launched by a CZ-11 from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre. Shiyan means "experiment" in Chinese. The newly launched Shiyan satellite will be used for in-orbit verification of new space technologies.

2nd-generation space tracking ship Yuanwang 3 departed from its port on 18 December for new space monitoring missions. The crew members will spend the New Year holiday and Spring Festival during this voyage.
