China launches new triplet of Yaogan 30 remote sensing satellites

China successfully sent a group of new remote sensing satellites into orbit from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province on 26 July. The satellites, belonging to the Yaogan 30 family, were launched by a Long March 2C carrier rocket at 11:57 h (Beijing Time). The satellites have entered the planned orbits, and will be used for electromagnetic environment detection and related technological tests.

Pakistan's first astronaut planned for 2022

News agency Reuters reported that Pakistan is preparing for an astronaut selection in February 2020. Science and Technology Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain tweeted about Pakistan's first manned space mission, planned for 2022. Earlier reports suggest that China might provide a flight opportunity for Pakistan.

Beidou navigation applications enhance life standards

The Beidou satellite navigation system is leading Chinese citizens to a better life with its significant roles in agriculture, transportation and disaster relief. It has been applied in key national industries and the mass consumer field, an official at the 10th China Satellite Navigation Annual Conference said. The first beneficiary is China’s agricultural development.

Space robotic arm inspires scientists for sorting garbage

Chinese scientists have developed a robotic arm for garbage collecting and separating, which was originally created for space missions and was first launched by the Long March-7 rocket in 2016. The arm, designed and built by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT), has been tested to remove space debris, including rocket emissions and fragments from disintegration, erosion and collision. It turns out that the high precision achieved in space is also very useful for sorting household garbage on Earth.
