First Chinese sea launch planned for the middle of this year

China plans to launch a Long March-11 carrier rocket at sea this year, which is expected to lower the cost of entering space. The rocket has been named "CZ-11 WEY" under an agreement between the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, China Space Foundation and a Chinese automobile producer. The first seaborne rocket launch is scheduled for mid-2019 in the Yellow Sea, said Jin Xin, deputy chief commander of the rocket, at a press conference of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation earlier this year.

Micius Quantum Prize - Chinese prize for quantum research announced

Yuanwang 7 departs for space monitoring missions

China's spacecraft tracking ship Yuanwang 7 is sailing to the Pacific Ocean, beginning its first maritime space monitoring mission this year. The ship departed from a port in eastern China's Jiangsu Province on 1 May. Before the voyage, the mission members have made training plans and conducted a series of tests to improve the performance and increase emergency response, according to Zhou Yunshan, captain of Yuanwang 7.

Yi Zhihao, 28, still sometimes gets emotional when thinking about his volunteering experience living in a self-contained lab in early 2018. "It's incredible, I really did not expect to be able to make it for 200 days," Yi said. His group, along with another one, broke a world record by working rotations at a bio-regenerative life support system in Beihang University in Beijing for a combined 370 days.
