China is determined to land taikonauts on the Moon

Zhou Yanfei, Deputy Chief Designer of China's manned space programme, said during the 2020 China Space Conference in Fuzhou, Fujian Province that China is working on a manned lunar landing. Planners, designers and engineers have concluded feasibility studies and discussed all aspects of a Chinese human lunar programme.
Despite all progress, the engineers are still faced with a long list of technical and engineering difficulties, Zhou said.

Tianwen 1 completes 2nd orbital correction

21 September 2020
On 20 September, China's Mars probe Tianwen 1 successfully carried out its second orbital correction, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA). The probe conducted the orbital correction at 23:00 BJT after four of its 120N engines were in operation for 20 seconds. The performance of the 120 N engines was tested simultaneously. The probe has traveled in orbit for roughly 60 days so far, and was about 19 million km away from Earth. All of the probe's systems were in good condition, said the CNSA.

Haiyang 2C satellite launched to monitor ocean environment

21 September 2020
On 21 September, China sent a new ocean-monitoring satellite into orbit from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in Northwest China. A Long March 4B rocket carrying the Haiyang 2C (HY-2C) satellite took off at 13:40 BJT. The country's third ocean dynamic environment satellite, the HY-2C, will form a network with the previous HY-2B and subsequent HY-2D to carry out high-precision maritime environment monitoring.

Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) not renewing contract with China on use of space tracking station

News agency Reuters and the UK media outlet The Guardian were reporting about the intention of the Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) not to renew with Chinese customers the contract for using SSC's space tracking station in Yatharagga, Western Australia. The Guardian wrote: "The SSC said the current contract supports Chinese scientific space missions within its program for manned-space flights for telemetry, tracking and command services."
