HXMT-Insight detects strongest magnetic field in universe
12 September 2020
Using China's Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), a team of scientists has discovered the strongest magnetic field ever observed in the universe on the surface of a neutron star, designated GRO J1008-57.
This work was conducted by scientists from the Institute of High Energy Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen in Germany. Results were published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters in August.

China's polar-observing satellite obtains over 2,500 images
14 September 2020
China's first polar-observing satellite, BNU-1 (Ice Pathfinder), has obtained 2,501 images covering the Arctic and Antarctic regions after orbiting Earth for a full year, its owner, Beijing Normal University (BNU), said on 12 September. At the press conference held in Beijing, BNU released a series of remote sensing data of the North and South Poles. Among all the images obtained by the satellite, 850 are of the Antarctic ice sheet and 1,025 picture the Arctic regions. Users have access to all the above data and images, and downloading is free.
