Egypt’s Minister of Education, Chinese Ambassador inspect Satellite Assembly, Integration and Test Center

Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education Khaled Abdel Ghafar and Ambassador of China to Egypt Liao Liqiang inspected on 29 September the Satellite Assembly, Integration and Test Center in the New Administrative Capital, discussing strategic Egyptian-Chinese relations in the space technology and remote sensing field. Abdel Ghafar clarified that the center will help Egypt host the African Space Agency and design joint programs between the African Space Agency and the other space agencies.

10 years of successful aspiration for space exploration

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of CAST's Department for Manned Spaceflight, a celebration movie was released, showing clean room footage of the Tiangong space labs, modules for the future space station and the space crafts servicing the future CSS. The video also gives a glimpse of robotic technology for the assembly of the future CSS, scenarios of the manned exploration of the Moon and the outer solar system.

"Tumours in Space" project prepared for studying cancer risk of cosmic radiation on the CSS

A medical research, looking into the question whether weightlessness can stop cancer from growing, is currently prepared for flying around 2022 to the Chinese Space Station (CSS). The cancer research project, called "Tumours in Space", is headed by Canadian researcher Tricia L. Larose, based at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). "Tumours in Space" is one of nine research projects selected by the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) under their programme to provide scientists from all over the world with the opportunity to fly experiments on the CSS. It is also the only one among the 9 selected that is headed by a woman.
