Shenzhou 12 crew and the 100th anniversary of CPC

Upon the centenary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Chinese astronauts Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming, and Tang Hongbo, all Party members, are busy at in-orbit construction of the country's space station. Nie joined the Party in 1986, Liu in 1990, and Tang in 1997.
China's 1st astronaut Yang Liwei, also a Party Member, once said, "like foreign astronauts having their beliefs, we believe in Communism, which is also a spiritual power. ... We do not pray in the way our foreign counterparts do, but the common belief has made us more united in space, where there is no national boundary, to accomplish our missions." China's manned space programme was approved by the CPC Central Committee in 1992.

Fengyun 4B sent first image

The Fengyun 4B weather satellite, launched on 3 June, and currently going through its in-orbit testing phase has captured its first group of high definition pictures. The rapid-imaging device carried by the satellite is able to take pictures each minute that cover 4 million km2. The imaging range can reach the Indian Ocean to the West, the Pacific Ocean to the East and broader areas in Oceania, the China Meteorological Administration said.

Launch of 5 new satellites

China sent 5 satellites into planned orbits from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in northern Shanxi Province on 3 July.
The satellite Jilin-1 01B, Xingshidai-10 and three Jilin-1 Gaofen 03D satellites were launched by a CZ-2D rocket at 10:51 BJT.
