Macao's Moon and planetary lab to boost China's deep space exploration

During the opening ceremony of an aerospace exhibition at the Macao University of Science and Technology, Macao's first space exploration satellite was named Macao Science 1, the special administrative region (SAR)'s Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Tam Chon Weng announced on 15 December. Also, CNSA would set up Macao Space Exploration and Science Center to assist deep space exploration cooperation between China and international society, and help such institutions in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to work with each other.

Ethiopian minister praises Chinese assistance in space science sector - ETRSS-1 launch planned for 20 December

The Ethiopia Minister of Innovation and Technology Getahun Mekuria on 15 December commended Chinese partnership in developing Ethiopia's space science sector. Speaking to Xinhua, Mekuria said the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MoIT) has partnered with its Chinese counterpart to train Ethiopian space engineers as well as to help launch Ethiopia's first space satellite. "Ethiopia and China have strong multifaceted ties. As a showcase of these ties, Ethiopia's first space satellite will be launched from China on Dec. 20. Already, China has helped train 20 Ethiopian space engineers both in China and at home using experienced Chinese personnel. These Ethiopian engineers are expected to play a key part in operating Ethiopia's first space satellite."

Launch of two Beidou satellites marks completion of core network

China successfully sent two satellites of the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) into space from Xichang Satellite Launch Center in Sichuan Province at 15:22 BJT on 16 December. The launch means all the 24 medium earth orbit (MEO) satellites of the BDS-3 have been successfully sent into space, and the deployment of the core BDS-3 constellation system has been completed, according to Yang Changfeng, chief designer of the BDS. "BDS now has the full capacity for global service. It will be able to provide excellent navigation service to global users," Yang said.

ETRSS-1 satellite will launch as secondary payload with CBERS 4A

17 December 2019
The Long March 4B rocket will lift off on the 20 December at 03:21 GMT from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in China, carrying on board the ETRSS-1 satellite as a secondary payload and the CBERS 4A remote sensing satellite as a primary payload. CBERS 4A is the fifth China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite for the collection of global imagery for environmental, urban planning and agricultural applications.
