Shenzhou 13 crew and Landing Support Team are preparing for return

By mid-April, the three taikonauts of the SZ-13 crew were finishing their half-year residence in space. They did a thorough cleaning of the space station, collect research items and pack their own stuff before their return. After finishing their work, the "technology verification phase" of the space station project will be completed. The ground team at Dongfeng landing site was also busy preparing for the landing operations, since a new type of vehicles will be deployed which need more rehearsals. The latest comprehensive rehearsal was carried out on 11 April to make sure the return capsule can be found in time after landing in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Gaofen 3-03 satellite data received

On 13 April, the first data package of 44 gigabytes from the Gaofen 3-03 satellite was received by the remote sensing satellite ground station in Miyun on the outskirts of Beijing and the ground station in south China's Sanya, according to the Aerospace Information Research Institute under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Gaofen 3-03 was launched on 7 April. It will be networked with the orbiting Gaofen 3 and Gaofen 3-02 satellites to form a land-sea radar satellite constellation and capture reliable, stable synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. The satellites will serve the fields of marine disaster prevention and mitigation, dynamic marine environment monitoring, marine research, environmental protection, water conservancy, agriculture and meteorology.

President Xi orders building world-leading spacecraft launch site

President Xi Jinping demanded efforts to elevate a spacecraft launch site in southern China's island province of Hainan into world-leading standards when he inspected the site on 12 April. After being briefed on the launch site, Xi inspected the launching tower and other facilities. He spoke highly of a series of key space missions launched from the site, including the launching of the space station core module Tianhe, the Chang'e-5 lunar mission, and the Tianwen-1 Mars probe. Xi noted that Wenchang is the launch site of China's new-generation high thrust carrier rockets and the bridgehead of the country's deep space exploration.

Zhongxing 6D launched

On 15 April at 20:00 BJT, China launched onboard a CZ-3B rocket the Zhongxing 6D (ChinaSat 6D) telecommunication satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre. Zhongxing 6D entered its planned orbit. The satellite will provide reliable, stable and safe radio and television transmission and communication services.
