Jilin 1 satellite captures world-famous observatories from space

On 26 March, China’s National Earth Observation Data Centre (NODA) and National Astronomical Data Centre (NADC) jointly published the remote sensing atlas "World-famous Observatories from Space". The imagery, produced by the Changguang Satellite Technology Co. Ltd. (CGSTL), comprises 21 high-resolution remote sensing images captured by its Jilin 1 satellite.
NODA is organised by the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR) under the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and serves as one of the top 20 national data centres established in 2019 by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China.

Shenzhou 13 crew members answered questions by students in the US

On 9 April, more than 300 students across the United States got an insight into the work and life of the Shenzhou 13 crew on board the Chinese Space Station. The 3 taikonauts along with former NASA astronaut Donald A. Thomas and aerospace experts on the ground, including Barbara Morgan, answered questions from U.S. students. The event was organised in and by the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC.

CZ-7 for launch of TZ-4 arrived at Hainan Island

The CZ-7 Y5 rocket, which will launch the new Tianzhou cargo craft to the CSS, arrived at Wenchang launch site on Hainan Island on 11 April. The rocket, alongside the Tianzhou 4 cargo spacecraft that has already been transported to the Wenchang Space Launch Site, will be assembled and tested on site. Facilities at the launch site are in good condition and preparations for all systems involved in the mission are proceeding smoothly, CMSA reported.

Progress in Beidou Utilisation

As of the end of 2021, more than 7.9 million vehicles had been equipped with the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS); nearly 8,000 sets of BeiDou terminals of various types had been used in the railway sector; over 100,000 agricultural machines had been equipped with self-driving system based on the BDS; and the output value of downstream operation and service links, including health care, epidemic prevention and sterilization, remote monitoring and online services, reached nearly 200 billion RMB (31.4 billion USD). BDS is employed to provide precise positioning and timing information for all kinds of intelligent machines to help them perceive the surrounding environment and make decisions properly. A big number of users in ASEAN, South Asia, Eastern Europe, West Asia, Africa and other regions are receiving Beidou-related high-quality services for local economic and social development.
