Huayi 1 suborbital rocket makes debut flight

The 1st flight of the Huayi 1 suborbital rocket took place on 17 December at 14:30 h at a testing field in northwestern China, carrying the Agile Testbed experimental satellite and the biological experimental payload Sparkle 1 to an altitude of 250 km. The rocket was build by Huayi Spacetime, a startup in Shaanxi province that develops both suborbital and orbital rockets. Agile Testbed was manufactured by Cosats in 3D printing technology. The Agile Testbed provides a microgravity platform for space-based experiments from a wide range of businesses such as biological research and development of new medicines and materials.

Manned lunar landing in preparation

On 17 December, the State Council Information Office held a news conference in Beijing to inform about China's manned space programme. Dong Nengli, Head of CMSA's Technology Bureau said that space programme planners and engineers are researching the roadmap and technologies for a manned Moon landing. "The results of their work will be seen in due course. Our astronauts will definitely touch down on the moon," he told reporters.

Fengyun meteorological satellites serve users in 121 countries and regions

China has provided its Fengyun meteorological satellite data to 121 countries and regions, including 85 along the Belt and Road according to the China Meteorological Administration. CMA has also offered technical training to over 1,400 professionals from 92 countries and regions. Providing users at home and abroad with free access to data in real time, the Fengyun satellites have played an important role in weather forecast, natural disaster response, and ecological and environmental governance in relevant countries and regions. Global users will enjoy the same treatment in data access as their Chinese counterparts.
