CMSA published an AO for science research to be uploaded to the CSS with the Tianzhou cargo spacecraft. The project application is open for government organizations, research institutions, educational institutions, enterprises and industry groups. Any advanced science project that meets the requirement of national development strategy and sci-tech development trend, or is forward-looking, innovative or has industrial development value can submit the application on or before 15 January 2022.

Liu Shiquan, General Manager of CASIC announced at the 7th China (International) Commercial Aerospace Forum that the company's intelligent satellite production line and a rocket industrial park in the Wuhan National Aerospace Industry Base started operation. The rocket industrial park can produce 20 solid-fuel launch vehicles per year. The satellite production line has the capacity to produce 100 general satellites weighing less than one tonne a year. He also said that CASIC will accelerate the development and application of medium and large solid-fuelled carrier rockets.

A Long March-3B carrier rocket launched on 27 November at 0:40 BJT the Zhongxing 1D (ChinaSat 1D) communication satellite from Xichang Satellite Launch Centre. The satellite entered its planned orbit. Developed by the China Academy of Space Technology in Beijing, the satellite is tasked with transmitting telephone, internet, television and radio signals.

CASIC has announced a number of ambitious plans for the commercial space sector at the 7th China Commercial Aerospace Forum. Some of the highlights include the rollout of a new remote sensing constellation scheme, the next-stage layout for China's space-borne Internet-of-Things (IoT) project, and arrangements for the Kuaizhou 1A launch vehicle for commercial spaceflights.
