Yuanwang 3 space tracking ship departs for new monitoring missions

On 21 February, Yuanwang 3 space tracking ship set sail for the Pacific Ocean from a port in east China's Jiangsu Province for upcoming maritime monitoring missions. It is the ship's first voyage this year.

IAF and CSA initiated Space Universities Cubesat Challenge

The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) and its Space University Administrative Committee (SUAC) in cooperation with the Chinese Society of Astronautics (CSA) and the Dalian University of Technology (DUT) announced a competition for a free launch of a 3U CubeSat on the Long March or Smart Dragon rocket operated by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology. The organisers are looking for innovative CubeSats or new ideas or concepts for CubeSats missions.

Chinese rocket for space station mission transported to launch site
22 February 2021
The CZ-5B Y2 rocket, which is the rocket to launch the CSS's core module, safely arrived at the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Hainan Province on 22 February. The rocket an the Tianhe core module will be assembled and tested at the launch site. CMSA said that facilities and equipment at the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site are in good condition and preparations have been carried out as scheduled.

Chinese President Views Moon Return Samples

Leonard David reported on his INSIDE OUTER SPACE website that Chinese President Xi Jinping met space scientists and engineers involved in the research and development of the Chang’e-5 lunar mission at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on 22 February. On that occassion, Xi inspected specimens from the Moon brought back by the return sample mission.
