Chinese navigation exhibition opens in Vienna

A Chinese navigation exhibition opens in Vienna International Centre on 11 June, showing how the nation evolves "from compass to BeiDou" - as the exhibition is themed - in time service, surveying, mapping and navigation technologies. Videos, pictures and physical objects are now on display in the hall of Building C of the Vienna International Centre, and two exhibits would be donated to the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs after the exhibition closes after 21 June.

Measure boosts commercial space industry

China's space authorities have published a regulation to manage and boost the development of the commercial space launch industry, a move private players expect to foster a prosperous market and sustainable growth. The regulation was jointly made by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the Central Military Commission's Equipment Development Department, and published on 10 June.

First batch of cooperation projects aboard China space station released

China released the first nine international cooperation projects for the country's planned space station. The selection was jointly implemented by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) and the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA).
The nine projects involve 23 entities from 17 countries in the fields of aerospace medicine, space life sciences and biotechnology, microgravity physics and combustion science, astronomy and other emerging technologies.

UNOOSA and CMSA announce winners of opportunity to fly experiments on board China Space Station

The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) announced the winners of their joint opportunity to conduct experiments on board the China Space Station (CSS) during a side event of the 62nd session of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS). Six winning projects were selected, and three were conditionally selected. The winning institutions come from a variety of countries, including Belgium, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Kenya, the Netherlands, Norway, Mexico, Poland, Peru, Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Switzerland. UNOOSA Director, Simonetta Di Pippo, said: "Despite the incredible advances made in the space sector in recent decades, many millions of people worldwide still do not have access to the benefits of space. This opportunity with CMSA helps bridge this gap by opening the unique research environment on board the CSS to all Member States...."
