BeiDou navigation system supports fisher men

In 2019, 12,000 fishing vessels in Fujian began installing the BeiDou position indicators, and a BDS-supported system to assist with emergency response was established. "The BeiDou position indicator is non-detachable, and the built-in battery can supply power autonomously for five years and realize the real-time location of the boats even when they are in the open waters," said Ma Jianhua, Director of the Disaster Response Centre of the Fujian Provincial Department of Ocean and Fisheries.

China launches Gaofen 9-04 optical remote-sensing satellite

China successfully launched a new optical remote-sensing satellite from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China at 12:01 BJT. Gaofen 9-04 has a sub-meter resolution and will be mainly used for land surveys, city planning, land right confirmation, road network design, crop yield estimation and disaster prevention and mitigation as well as for data on the development of the Belt and Road Initiative. The mission also launched the Tsinghua science and test satellite, developed by Tsinghua University. The satellite will verify higher atmospheric density measurements based on dual-frequency GPS.

China seeks educational payload ideas for mission to Moon and asteroid

China is soliciting ideas for educational payloads aboard its Chang'e 7 mission, an asteroid and a comet. CNSA is asking primary, middle school and university students across the country to provide ideas for payloads that would fly aboard the Chang'e 7 probe to the Moon's South Pole, and on another spacecraft to the asteroid 2016HO3 and the comet 133P. The deadline for applications is 31 October.

China and UAE aim for closer ties in space exploration

The UAE Ambassador to China, Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, told the Global Times during a recent visit to the Beijing-based China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) that there are "a number of opportunities and possibilities for the UAE space agency to work with the CAST team in the future." China and the UAE could find collaborative opportunities in space exploration.
At an event on 06 August, themed on how to peacefully explore the Red Planet, ambassadors and diplomats from countries including China, the UAE, Namibia, Mali, Nepal, Uruguay and Azerbaijan signed an initiative on Peaceful Space Exploration.
